Course Description
The Vehicle Technician Accredited Assessment acts as an equivalent accreditation for motor vehicle technicians who wish to demonstrate Level 3 knowledge and practical competence, but who do not hold a formal Level 3 qualification (required for MOT courses). Once this course is completed, successful candidates will fulfil the eligibility criteria for entry onto the Level 2 Award in MOT Testing, allowing them to qualify as a DVSA MOT Tester.
Modules Covered
- Brakes
- Suspension, Steering, wheels, and tyres
- Emissions
- Electrics
Course Duration
- The course will take place over 3 days.
Assessment
- The assessment consists of 4 practical tasks per module, as well as an online test made up of 50 multiple choice questions covering all 4 modules. In order to pass, candidates must score a minimum of 60% overall.
Eligibility Criteria for Candidates
The VTAA is an assessment of a motor vehicle technician's knowledge and skills, so it is expected that motor vehicle technicians will have worked in their roles for three or more years to demonstrate capabilities at Level 3. Evidence to demonstrate three years' experience could be provided through items such as former technician declarations or CV's. This list is not exhaustive.
