Course Description
The level 3 electric/hybrid course is designed for people who work on electric/hybrid vehicles. It builds on the safety and operational principles of the level 2 course, in addition to teaching diagnostic rectification methods and procedures for the repair of faults. After successfully completing this course learners will understand how to safely isolate and reinstate the high voltage system, and how to remove and replace high voltage components.
Modules Covered
- Knowledge and understanding of the diagnosis and rectification of faults on electric and hybrid light vehicles.
- Understand the risks and hazards associated with electric and hybrid light vehicles
- Know and understand the different types of electric and hybrid light vehicles, their operation, and their associated technology in order to diagnose and rectify vehicle faults
- Know and understand the function of components, how to identify them, and the correct testing and replacement procedures
- Know how to work safely when carrying out diagnostic and rectification procedures on electric and hybrid light vehicles
- Preparing an electric or hybrid light vehicle to carry out diagnostic and rectification procedures
Course Duration
- The course will take place over 3 days.
Assessment
- The multiple-choice online test consists of 20 questions and must be completed within the 60-minute time limit. The pass mark is 60%.
- There is also a practical assessment which is simply pass/fail.
Eligibility Criteria for Candidates
There are no pre-requisites for this course, however, it is recommended that the level 2 hybrid/electric course is completed first. If you already have a good level of experience and subject knowledge of the operating principles of electric/hybrid light vehicles, then this course may be suitable for you without completing a lower level first.
