Level 3 Award in Automotive Refrigerant Handling (EC842-2006) (A6006-03)

Course Description

This qualification provides individuals working in an automotive repair and servicing environment with the required skills and knowledge to meet the European Union fluorinated greenhouse gas (F-Gas) regulations (EC842/2006 and Annex EC307/2008).

This course satisfies the minimum requirements for a Mobile Air Conditioning (MAC) technician to legally recover automotive refrigerant from light vehicles and car-derived vans. It is important to note that this qualification does not meet the requirements of a technician working with Cargo Refrigerant.

  • Operating principles, functions, and types of automotive mobile air conditioning (MAC) systems

Course Duration

  • This is a 2-day course

Assessment

  • The assessment consists of a multiple-choice online test, with a total of 25 questions, and a time limit of 50 minutes. The pass mark is 60%, and 80% is a distinction. There is also a practical element, which is simply pass/fail.

Eligibility Criteria for Candidates

There are no specific pre-requisites to register on this course. Although, a basic knowledge of how automotive air conditioning systems and the regulations surrounding fluorinated greenhouse gas refrigerants would be advantageous.
