MOT CPD (annual assessment) Course
Course Description
The MOT Assessment is an online exam that must be taken yearly by MOT testers. You must take the assessment between April 1st and March 30th. Your status as an MOT tester, qualified to test, will be suspended by the DVSA unless you pass this annual exam.
This course will cover your annual training and assessment, preparing you for another 12 months of MOT Testing.
MOT Tester responsibilities
- Do at least 3 hours of MOT tester training each year and 16 hours in 5 years
- Keep a record of your training for at least the past 5 years, including the following:
- The MOT annual training year
- The date of the training
- How long the training session lasted
- What topics you covered during the session
- Notes on what you did, how you did it, and what you learned
- What vehicle groups your training covered
- Your name and MOT testing service user ID
- Book and take your assessment
- Check your assessment provider has uploaded your assessment results
Group B (class 3, 4, 5, and 7 vehicles) require the following topical knowledge for the assessment:
- Brake test procedures
- MOT test procedures
- Managing your MOT account
- Continual Professional Development (CPD)
- The MOT inspection manual for cars and passenger vehicles
Course Duration
- The course is a half day course
Assessment
The MOT CPD/Annual Assessment half day course covers all of the above, with three hours of training lead by an experienced instructor, followed by sitting the annual assessment exam. This provides the best possible chance of passing the assessment first time each year. Courses will be either be a morning session running 08:00am-12:00pm, or, and afternoon session running 13:00pm-17:00pm.
