Course Description
The Level 2 Award in MOT Testing (Classes 4 and 7) has been developed in collaboration with the DVSA. It is a DVSA recognised qualification, meeting the requirements for MOT Tester application. Candidates that are successful in passing this qualification, as well as any additional DVSA requirements, will be eligible to carry out Statutory Vehicle Inspections on behalf of the Secretary of State for Transport.
The benefit of the Skills and Education Group Awards Level 2 Award in MOT Testing qualification is that it is a lifetime qualification. This means it will not expire, and holders will be considered professionally competent for the rest of their lives. MOT Testers will be required to complete the DVSA Annual Training and Assessment Requirements each year, and the DVSA can withdraw tester status if conditions are not met.
This course is suitable for:
- New MOT Testers
- Testers who have been suspended by the DVSA and need to retrain
- Trainers who have been away from testing for more than 3 years
- Testers who have not previously completed this specific qualification

The online test consists of 40 questions in total, requiring a pass mark of 80%. Both components must be passed in order to achieve the MOT Tester qualification.
